The crazies
Not sure if this qualify as a zombie movie as it's about the water supply in a small town being tainted with some experimental military chemical, resulting to the residents there becoming crazy and killing each other, hence, they are called the crazies. The actions are quite average and only a few gory or brutal scenes. The only impressive thing is the nuclear explosion in the end but quite watcheable. I'll rate this at 7/10.
Kick Ass
Story about a former police officer looking for revenge after he was framed for some crime. Together with his trained-to-kill very young daughter, both of them seek to sabotage the operation of an organised gang. If you are bored with the ordinary action movies, this one will provide a good alternative as most of the action is done by the young girl, the killings done by her are quite brutal as well. There is also another teenage trying to be a superhero but didn't quite make it which will provide the humour in this movie. I'll rate this at 7/10.
Children of men
This movie is set in the future, year 2027 to be exact, where the whole world is in turmoil and UK is the favourite country for refugees. Hence, the UK government is going all out to stamp out illegal immigrants. Due to some condition, everyone in this world is no longer able to make babies and suddenly, there is one refugee in UK found pregnant. The hero in this movie is supposed to protect the pregnant refugee from both the authorities and opportunists trying to make a quick buck from the baby. This movie is not really action packed but each of the action scenes are realistically made and not of typical Hollywood style. I'll rate this at 7/10.
The unthinkable
This movie is about terrorism where 3 nuclear bombs have been placed at 3 different major cities in US. The culprit is caught but the military has to interrogate him anyway possible to find out the location of the bombs. This whole movie revolves around the interrogation technique used to crack the terrorist and also the need to balance between morality in interrogation versus avoidance of a crisis. Overall, I'm not impressed as the movie does not show the whole brutal process of the interrogation, probably toned down to avoid criticism. You get more brutal scenes from movies like Saw. The ending is a bit unexpected though. I'll rate this at 7/10.
The book of Eli
The story is set in the future where everything is destroyed due to some blast or disaster, no basic facilities at all and of course, religion is wiped out by some crazy politicians before that. So, there is this guy having probably the only remaining bible in the world which he is supposed to deliver it to a place where the people there will make duplication of it. There will be some guys he met during his journey, average action scenes, some killings look brutal but too much talking and the movie is made too long without any purpose. I'll rate this at 6/10.
Shutter Island
This is a mystery movie about police investigating missing psycho patient held in an island. Not much of action, lots of talking but an unexpected ending, very much like the other movie I watched recently, The Others. I'll rate this at 6/10.
